After a year of preparation, Maranatha Christian University underwent field assessment as part of the accreditation process by the National Accreditation Agency for Higher Education (BAN-PT) on Friday, March 15, 2024. The opening of the accreditation series was held at the Prof. Dr. P. A. Surjadi, M.A. Auditorium, attended by the Head of the Higher Education Regional Office IV, representatives from the Forum of Full Professors, the Board of Trustees of Maranatha Christian University Foundation (YPTKM), University Leadership, and civitas academica Maranatha Christian University

In his speech, the Head of LLDikti IV, Dr. M. Samsuri, S.Pd., M.T., IPU, explained that accreditation reflects a culture of quality consistently embedded in every aspect of university life. According to him, the quality assurance system or accreditation is a measure of the excellence of universities in providing quality education services trusted by the community, both nationally and internationally.

"Although the quality of education is our top priority, we all share the same vision, which is to enhance the quality of human resources to build a better Indonesia," he added.

This field assessment was attended by four assessors: Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Herman Parung, M.Eng. (Krida Wacana Christian University); Dr. Drs. Paulus Theodorus Basuki Hadiprajitno, M.B.A., M.S.Acc. (Diponegoro University); Prof. Dr. Seger Handoyo, Psychologist (Airlangga University); and Prof. Dr. Maria G. Endang Sumiarni, S.H., M.Hum. (Atma Jaya University Yogyakarta). The series of activities continued with a session on confirmation of Institutional Performance Report (LKPT) data, discussion on quality assurance, and a meeting with middle management in the Integrity Room, Central Administration Building. The event then proceeded with a question-and-answer session between the assessors and faculty members, educational staff, students, alumni, and users, visits to facilities and infrastructure, as well as self-assessment by the assessors.

Joni, S.E., M.Si., Ak., Ph.D., the Head of Quality Assurance Unit at Maranatha Christian University, stated that despite some difficulties encountered by assessors in accessing data, the accreditation process proceeded smoothly. He also mentioned that Maranatha University had meticulously prepared for this accreditation process, from selecting the team, compiling self-evaluation reports, preparing performance reports, to submitting documents.

"Maranatha Unggul provides a positive impact for students by enhancing their reputation in the eyes of the community, which also affects Maranatha University's reputation in the eyes of other institutions. I hope this can become a process improvement that is beneficial for students and stakeholders," said Joni. (av/gn)
