Faculty of Languages and Cultures Maranatha's undergoes an International Accreditation Visit by AQAS.

The Faculty of Languages and Cultures at Maranatha Christian University received a visit from the Agency for Quality Assurance through Accreditation of Study Programs (AQAS) for the purpose of international accreditation visitation for three study programs, the Bachelor Program in English, Bachelor Program in Japanese, and Bachelor Program in Chinese undergraduate programs. The event took place from January 30th to February 1st, 2024, at the Integrity Room, Central Administration Building.

The attending AQAS team comprised Prof. Dr. Andreas Rohde (University of Cologne, Germany); Prof. Dr. Judit Arokay (Heidelberg University, Germany); Prof. Dr. Thomas Zimmer (Tongji University Shanghai); Dr. Anne Guenther (labour market representative); Rômulo Luzia de Araújo (student representative); Maria Rentmeister (AQAS consultant); dan Vi Le (AQAS consultant). Also present were the university leadership along with representatives the Faculty of Languages and Cultures.

The visitation process proceeded smoothly with document and facility inspections, as well as interviews. Dean the Faculty of Languages and Cultures, Anton Sutandio, S.S., M.Hum., Ph.D., stated that the accreditation preparation took about a year. He expressed gratitude for external parties who could see Faculty of Languages and Cultures from different perspectives, allowing what was considered right and good to be further improved. "We hope that feedback we expect their contributions will greatly help us to improve and enhance the quality of teaching and education at Faculty of Languages and Cultures," said Anton.

Further, he explained, this international accreditation will provide significant benefits to students as it will facilitate their careers or further studies abroad. Additionally, it will be beneficial for the University in achieving accreditation. "Unggul" serta meningkatkan kepercayaan masyarakat.

"I think if this is internationally accredited, it's definitely very good and will encourage other study programs to also pursue international accreditation," added Anton. (gn)
